Series – “What Attitudes are needed for Ministry” Number one “The Attitude of Commitment” Introduction: There is an amazing lack of commitment in our society today. Its’ collapse is seen everywhere Commitment defined: Woodroll Kroll – “The quality of tenaciously pursuing to the very end, with heart and soul, what we have pledged to pursue.” II Timothy 1:16-18 16 The Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain; 17 but when he arrived in Rome, he sought me out very zealously and found [me.] 18 The Lord grant to him that he may find mercy from the Lord in that Day -- and you know very well how many ways he ministered [to me] at Ephesus. Three qualities necessary for true commitment Consistency – Initiative – Determination Commitment is displayed by the quality of determination: Paul said in vs 17, “He sought me out diligently” Isaiah 50:7 7 " For the Lord GOD will help Me; Therefore I will not be disgraced; Therefore I have set My face like a flint, And I know that I will not be ashamed. Hebrews 12:2, that’s determination 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of [our] faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Paul said in vs 17, “And He found me” Conclusion: Matthew 25:21 21 "His lord said to him, 'Well [done,] good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things.
